FAQs

Are children invited?

Yes indeed! We expect lots of kids at lunch and a good handful to join in the evening. We’ll have some nannies at the evening venue (to allow parents to enjoy the party as much as possible) and if you’d like to arrange a private babysitter let us know.

For dinner, please let us know if your kid(s) would prefer a children’s menu. We’ll also have a separate dining area for kids under a certain age (just adjacent to the main dining room)

What’s the weather like in Hue?

Hopefully not too hot! Expect bright sunshine, temperatures in the mid-80s F (30 C) during the day. A bit cooler in the evening.

March / April are dry months but keep your fingers crossed! We have back-up plans and umbrellas at the venue just in case!

Is the venue inside or out?

Lunch will be in air-conditioned comfort.

The evening ceremony will be on a roofdeck overlooking the river and dinner will be al fresco.

Do I need a SIM card? And where do I get one?

We strongly recommend getting a SIM Card even if only in Vietnam for a few days. You can get them at arrivals at the airport, we suggest either VNPT or Viettel and both the card and data packages are super cheap.

It’s also possible to get a virtual SIM through a service like https://www.airalo.com/ which may be the easiest way to arrange prior to your arrival.

Visas?

A very important question.

AMERICANS: Get your visas sorted early. It’s a straightforward e-visa process that takes a couple of days…..I strongly reccomend applying 2-3 weeks before just in case. The official website is easy to use, but can also use an agent if you prefer….but in that case add an extra week. Reach out early if questions, but please do apply early!

(Most) Europeans/Brits: No need for a visa if you are in Vietnam for 45 days or less. Double check though (you Dutch are out of luck….).

What about gifts?

Vietnamese wedding norms include a bit of cash in an envelope at the lunch party. There’ll even be a special box as you go in. VND 500,000 per person is the normal minimum.

For any other gifts, we’ve put a few ideas on a registry guide here, but really your presence in Hue is enough of a treat!

Do you have a wedding hashtag?

Yes, reluctantly. #sammy75nn

What about transport to/from?

Depending on where you're staying, taxi will be easiest but you may be able to walk to the evening ceremony.

We’re looking into a couple of late night e-buggy options for the big nearby hotels; will keep you all posted!

Plus Ones?

Please let us know if you’re planning to bring a plus one we don’t (yet) know about. We’ll do our best to accommodate but we are hard-capped in the number of dinner guests the space can hold!

What does a dress code of “pastel, floral'“ really mean?

Bright colors but with some subtlety. Leave the black ties at home and come dressed for a party. Lovely pale blues and pinks, nice spring shades of green and orange!

Gents, no need for a tie (at either lunch or dinner). Linen highly encouraged. Ladies, do try and avoid white and off-white.

You haven’t answered my question, how do I get in touch?
